2000 Plus

It is the far distant future and the date is 16 May 2040. The International League of Planetary Scientist have concluded that an expedition to Mars is plausible. Professor H. D. White, the Chairman of the League, has issued a statement that intelligent life on Mars like our own is highly probable and that a space journey towards the fourth planet now looks possible.

Two teenager boys begin to ponder the meaning of life and wish to make a name for themselves by being the first people on the red surface of Mars. Mickey Turner and Jink hear the news announcement and can’t help but feel excited about a space flight to Mars. Mickey, in particular, can’t wait to go to Mars, and even imagines being the first person to land there. Fueled by this daring idea, Mickey persuades his friend Jink to help him build a ship that would fly them to the red planet.

Armed with a news clipping that advertises a second-hand rocket for sale a 1989 M2 Rocket Cat 3 Passenger in the newspaper classifieds for at the amazing price of $87.50. After buying the second-hand rocket ship and putting some finishing adjustments and repairs so that it is space worthy. Mickey cons his father, who is a Space Cop in the Space Patrol, out of the information of when the Space Patrol patrols Sector 7. Armed with this information the two teenagers set out on their journey.

Once in space, in Sector 7, they encounter a strange ship and are captured by Martians. After an interrogation the Martians determine they are of no consequence and will not make any difference in their Martian Expeditionary forces invasion of Earth, they are allowed to leave and go back to Earth providing they stay on Earth.

Once back on earth they begin to ask the usual questions: What can we do to save Earth? Why won’t anyone believe our story? Since no one believes them, including Mickey’s Space Cop father, the two boys decide to go back to Sector 7 and bring the Space Patrol after them.

There plan is to get their friend May Belle to tell Mickey’s Space Cop dad that they have gone back to Sector 7 and that it is against the law and he should send the Space Patrol.

Again the Martians capture their ship and take them aboard their ship. The Martians plan this time is to wreck their rocket power and eject them into outer space where they will drift forever.

After destroying their ships rocket power the Space Patrol arrives and rescues the boy. As it turns out these so called Martians were hijackers waiting for uranium cargo ships as they come back from the uranium mines on the moon.

After returning to earth the boys are heroes with a Torch Light Parade and the Mayor giving them a speech and a chocolate pie.
