Commander Correy has his assistant Security officer Tonga on Titan (Saturn’s sixth moon) to investigate a scheme to pirate uranium mines which involves a feud between a spaceport official and a grizzled old veteran space pilot named Captain Gustav Krueger (Marvin Miller). He is being accused of dealing in the black market of processed foods and antibiotics. Captain Krueger in his ancient space freighter The “Lonesome Lena” has been plying Saturn and the Saturn Moons space lanes for decades. He is a “seat of the pants” pilot who chews Calium Seeds (from Venus) as a natural cure for Space Sickness. The only drawback for the Calium Seeds is they turn your fingers purple.
Corey’s and Tonga’s investigation of the scheme to pirate uranium mines on Titan leads him into a feud between a spaceport official named Sherwin McCurdy (Norman Jolley) and Captain Krueger.
McCurdy has been trying to get Captain Krueger banned from landing the Lonesome Lena at Titan Center Space Port. McCurdy has managed to get the Space Patrol Flight Physician to declare Captainb Krueger unfit to pilot a commercial space craft. Additionally, he has gotten the Titan Center Space Patrol to inspect the Lonesome Lena and get her declared as unsafe.
While Commander Corey and Cadet Happy are investigating a secret tunnel entrance on the back side of the mountain containing the uraniium mine, they are trapped inside when the dewatering pump is reversed and instead of pumping water out it begins pumping water into the tunnel, trapping them. Once they make their escape they find some Calium Seeds laying around the dewaterin pump control panel. They immediately suspect Captain Krueger.
Back at Titan Center Space Port Tonga reports to the Commander that there is a health emergency on Saturn City which has been struck by an outbreak of the Zeta Virus. A crisis is created when several thousand Credits worth of the anti-virus syrum for the Zeta Virus is stolen.
Commander Correy confronts Captain Krueger with the Calium Seeds evidence and accuses him of stealing the Anti Virus. Captain Krueger proves to the Commander that the incidents happend while he was being given a physical by the Titan Center Space Port Flight Physician Dr. Norman Greer who has grounded him due to his age and physical condition.
Convinced of Captain Krugers innocence he now suspects the only other player in this saga and that is Sherwin McCurdy. He heads to McCurdy’s office and finds that he has apparently abandoned it for good. The Commander then heads to the Titan Center Space Port where he confronts McCurdy who was trying to steal away in an atomosphere ship. After seeing that McCurdy’s fingers are stained purple he searches him and finds in his possession the missing Anti-Virus. Commander Corey arrests him and now needs to get the Anti-Virus to Saturn City.
However, McCurdy tells the Commander that he has disabled the controls on Terra V. There being no other spaceship in port that can get them to Saturn City Captain Kruger offers the use of the Lonsome Lena. After they are all aboard Captain Kruger blasts off and immediately appears to have a heart attack. Commander Correy takes the controls of the relic spaceship and manages to land at Saturn City. Meanwhile Captain Kruger has recoverd thanks to finding some more Calium Seeds.
