After Ross and later Loring confess to the sabotaging of the Elizabeth Chester, Roger is cleared. While delivering James Loring back to Venus, aboard the Rocket Scout 7J4, to stand trial Captain Strong is overpowered by Loring. Then Loring escapes to the Venus jungles in a jet boat. After completing his special assignment, Astro joins the Polaris Unit on the Space Station. Where he joins Tom Corbett in the search for Loring who has escaped to the Venus jungles. They leave Roger Manning behind to cover for them.
The cadets find Lorings hideout only to be captured by Loring and frozen with a parallel ray gun leaving them as the intended meal for a Tyranasaurus Rex dinosaur. Roger and Captain Strong who are searching for the missing cadets watch in horror as Loring tries to take off in the jet boat and is eaten by the T Rex instead of Lorings intended meal of Tom and Astro. The cadets were frozen and ignored by the dinosaur, but Loring was moving and a prime target. The Polaris Unit regroups and heads back to the Academy.
