Astro’s Trial in Space continues. After 4 hours of shore leave at Mars Port, Captain Strong and the Cadets blastoff from Mars for their return trip to the Academy. Cadet Astro is still listed as a passenger aboard the Polaris for observation to see if he does in fact have space fever. Cadet Harvey is filling in for Astro’s Power Deck duties and this has Astro a little on edge and he tells Captain Strong that he is going to resign from the Academy as soon as they return.
Once in outer space Cadet Roger Manning detects a huge sun spot forming on the sun. It is the largest any of them have ever seen at over 300,000 miles in diameter. The Polaris crew knows that this will send out a solar storm and that they need to head back to Mars as quick as possible.

However, before they can get back to the safety of the Mars atmosphere they are hit by a shock wave that disables their auto pilot. Then they spot a Space Cyclone heading straight at them. In a desperate attempt to land on Mars during this storm they crash land in the middle of the martian desert.
They survive the crash landing but Captain Strong has been injured and needs medical assistance. The problem is they have lost all power and cannot communicate with anyone and cannot send out a distress signal.
Tom, Roger and Cadet George Harvey strike out on to the Martian Desert, in a wild storm, in search of the nearest oxygen booster plant but can’t see well enough to continue. Tom orders everyone back to the Polaris but Roger Manning doesn’t make it back. In a reckless attempt to find Roger, Astro strikes out on his own and is soon lost too.
Does Astro find Roger? Can both Astro and Roger be resuced? Is the Polaris and her crew found and rescued? Does Astro resign from the Academy as he has threatened to do? One way to find out and that is to listen below to this episode.
