Roger and Dr. Dale are sent to Asteroid 2049 to conduct experiments but disappear and can not be reached. Captain Strong, Tom and Astro depart for Asteroid 2049 investigate. They find Rocket Scout 9J and board the Rocket Scout but there is no one aboard. We last heard that Tom and Astro are trapped aboard Rocket Scout 9J and manage to escape before it blows up.

They are just about to give up finding Roger and Dr. Dale when Dr. Dale calls them on the radio and tells them that Greg Mason, the mining engineer in charge of Asteroid 2049, has taken them prisoner.
Suddenly they loose communication with Dr. Dale and Greg Mason comes on and tells them that if they try to notify anyone about Dr. Dale and Roger or attempt to land it is curtains for them. Mason says he will be monitoring their radio for any messages.
After a Kellog PEP commercial we learn after they have approached Asteroid 2049 that the miners have left. They land and find no trace or a clue of where they went.
Tom surmises that Dr. Dale has told them about more ore on Asteroid 2046. Realizing that if they land on Asteroid 2046 it would mean the end of their friends. Astro comes up with a plan for rescuing Dr. Dale and Roger.
Astro’s daring plan is to decoy the miners with the Polaris while Tom and Astro sneak down to the asteroid with a Jet Boat. The plan includes rescuing Roger and Dr. Dale and firing an infrared flare which tells Captain Strong they have made the rescue and after 10 minutes he will fire a space torpedo at the miners ship.
Astro and Tom make it to Asteroid 2046 and find their friends. You will just have to listen to the show below to hear how the Space Patrol Space Cadets save the day.
